CHARTIER MOTORSPORTS

After Eagle River, Chartier Motorsports headed to the Flip Merwin 525. The event was more than expected, being our team’s first time here. A silent auction was held to raise money in honor of Flip Merwin Organization. Saturday, Malcolm Chartier #33 placed 4th in the 600 open. Champ 440 finals took place on Sunday, in which #33 placed 5th. Flip Merwin turned out to be a great event for our team, and look forward to returning next season.

Following the Flip Merwin race, our team headed to Sauk Centre, MN for the ORA’s (Oval Racer’s Alliance) first event. The three-day event started out Friday night with heat races, in which #33 had an unfortunate accident. While leading the 2nd heat race and taking the white flag, Dustin Whal hit #33 from behind, apparently for the world cup. This accident resulted in fractures of the right hand; fortunately he will only need time to heal.

Chartier Motorsports in conjunction with Mike Houle Racing, “MHR” put together a back up team to provide maximum exposure for our sponsors. Attending this next race allowed us to further testing of new ideas for next year’s season. Our team put together two highly skilled racers for the Valcourt Grand Prix, legend Mike Houle #22 and Erik Peterson #34. After not racing for 9 years, Houle returned to race Friday under the Chartier Motorsports’ banner, with an impressive 6th place in the Friday Champ 440 final. Peterson #34 raced all three days in the event; he unexpectedly didn’t receive any seat time on his champ prior to Friday. #34 qualified 11th for the main event on Sunday. He proved to be a great asset to the team. A special thanks goes out to Houle #22 and Peterson #34 for riding for our team on such short notice. It was a pleasure to attend Valcourt Grand Prix once again.

Ending our 2009 / 2010 season, Chartier Motorsports stopped in Hope, Mi at the Woody’s Manufacturing Headquarters. To show our gratitude, Chartier Motorsports Took Woody’s employee’s and owner’s on a tour of our 53’ race rig and had on display #33’s 440 Mike Houle Champ. We were also grateful to receive an elaborate plant tour of the production facility seeing how comp bars and studs are produced. We would like to thank the Woody’s employees for their hospitality.

After visiting Woody’s, Chartier Motorsports headed north to Grayling, MI for the 6th annual Grace Ride; a three-day trail riding event. The event was held in honor of the late Mark Grace, and raised money for his foundation. A good time was had by all.

A big thanks goes out to our team members: Mike Houle, Mark Nabozny, Chris Schneider, Greg Schieman, Jim Adams, Greg Furtah, Mike Laparl, Bill Phare, and Mike Zimmer. All our 2009 / 2010 sponsors are greatly appreciated as well; our achievements would not be accomplished without your hard work and support!

See you next race season.
